We use the RHESSI aspect-sensor observations of the solar limb tocharacterize the effects of solar magnetic activity on the apparentradius as a function of position angle. Sunspots at the exact limbresult in a depression (the Wilson effect), which we observe directly. The results are interpreted as lower limits of a few hundred km,as limited by the umbral diameter, based on simple geometricalmodels. Faculae produce clear signatures with a presently ambiguousinterpretation because of lack of knowledge of the limb-darkeningfunction and fine structure. We display the limb data as stackplotsof radius as a function of position angle and compare these with othermeasures of solar activity.
