Six excited levels of the configurations 3d(5)4p and 3d(4)4s4p in the chromium I spectrum have been investigated with regard to the lifetimes and the oscillator strengths, respectively, by means of the level-crossing-method. The wavelengths of the spectral lines under investigation are in the range from 3500 to 4300 A. The errors for the lifetimes of the transitions studied are about 3%. The comparison with the results of other authors shows good agreement within the respective limits of error. Absolute oscillator strengths have been determined from the measured lifetime and compared with those of other authors as to the establishment of their absolute f-value scale for Cr I.
