For Type Ia supernovae to be more confidently used in cosmological applications, the nearby events need to be better understood. One sub-class of SNe Ia that needs further investigation is the 1991bg-like sub-luminious events. These SNe have a faster rising and declining light curve and are dimmer at peak magnitude. The total peculiarity rate of SNe Ia is 36% ± 9%, with the sub-luminious events making up 16% ± 6% of these objects (Li et al. 2001, ApJ, 546, 734). We present BVRI photometry of sub-luminious SNe Ia, particularly SN 2002es in UGC 2708 (IAUC 7959, IAUC 7965), and the fit of these observations with model light curves. We discuss the implications of these model fits for the progenitors of these objects.
