The feasibility of laser simulation of the astrophysical effects of UV-radiation bursts and plasma flows on comets and planets is studied experimentally. Integral and high-speed photography was used to record the characteristic stream-line flow conditions and the formation of the opposing ablation plasma. The different conditions for which laser simulation is applicable are discussed.
