The shapes of light curves of several different asteroid models are analyzed as a function of the orientations of their axes of rotation with respect to the observer and the illuminator. The shape and amplitude of the light curves of the models depend on the properties of the light scattering surface layer, particularly on the albedo in the case of the same scattering diffusivity. The various models with a gray cover produce light curves which deviate from a sinusoid to different extents. This deviation is characterized by broadening of the maximum and sharpening of the minimum.
