We report the discovery of the Type Ic supernova LSQ11jw (J2000.0 coordinates RA 02:04:47.40 DEC 00:50:06.0) on Dec. 18.6 UTC at magnitude R=20.9 (calibrated to USNO-B1.0), as part of the La Silla-QUEST (LSQ) transient survey conducted with Yale University's 160-megapixel QUEST camera on the European Southern Observatory 1.0-m Schmidt Telescope at La Silla, Chile (Rabinowitz et al. 2011, ApJ, 732, 512).
