Scientific paper
The authors introduce a method to evaluate the solar parallax during a Venus Solar Transit by measuring the parallactic angles as seen by a single observer, the second observer being replaced by the known simultaneous geocentric data published by the ephemerides. Taking in due account the limits of the amateur's equipment employed, the result shows an acceptable discrepancy of 3% with the true value. The limits of the procedure and the error analysis of the results are discussed in detail, reaching the conclusion that the suggested approach may be interesting at the educational and amateur level in view of the next transit of 6 June 2012.
