We present AGN spectra obtained from deep (>21 ksec) observations of fields in the Southern Hemisphere by the ROSAT Position Sensitive Proportional Counter. There are over fifty identifications with active galactic nuclei (AGN) in the sample, which thus have both an X-ray luminosity and an optical luminosity. These AGN were either known from UV-excess surveys and detected with ROSAT, or were discovered by ROSAT and subsequently identified via optical spectroscopy. We find that the AGN soft X-ray (0.15 - 2.0 keV) spectrum can be described by a power law plus Bremsstrahlung, % and we report on the L_x - Lopt relation. We compare the ROSAT AGN relation with that determined for AGN observed by Einstein in the Medium Sensitivity Survey (i.e. L_x = Lopt ^ {0.7}). The two relations may be different, due to ROSAT's lower X-ray bandpass or to the substantially higher median redshift in our survey (z = 1.4 versus z = 0.3).
