Venus, Eastern Elongation

In spite of the unfavourable declination of the planet for most of the apparition, the evening eastern elobgation of Venus in 1997/98 has been followed visually 21 observers who produced drawings and phase estimates. Cusp caps as well as cusp cap collars have been visible. From July to September 1997 the phase estimates in blue light were constantly lower than those in red light. Ashen light has been reported three times in December, however there are no independent confirmations for any of the sightings.
