The Λ Bootis stars in the group of upper main sequence peculiar stars are briefly described. Delta-a photometric observations in the spectral region around a wavelength of 5200 are used to confirm the underabundance of metals in the Λ Bootis stars. The photometric results show excellent agreement with the spectroscopic data of Hauck and Slettebak (1983).
