The comet C/2002 O4 (Hönig) underwent a rapid evolution since its discovery on 22 July 2002 through its sudden disappearance occurred about its passage at the perihelion (1 October). The comet initially displayed a tail revealing a gaseous component which, at its turn, rapidly disappeared at the end of September, probably because of the comet's nucleus disruption.
