We have measured the K^+ Λ and K^+ Σ^0 electroproduction structure functions σU = σT + ɛL σ_L, σ_LT and σ_TT over a wide range of W and Q^2. The data consists of over 250,000 Λ and Σ^0 hyperons, spanning W from threshold to 2.5 GeV, Q^2 from 0.5 to 2.5 (GeV/c)^2, with nearly complete angular coverage in the hadronic center of mass frame. By measuring multiple observables over a large kinematic range, we provide strong constraints on theoretical models, and provide insight into the important reaction mechanisms in these channels. We find the σ_LT and σ_TT to be comparable in magnitude to σ_U, to be very different for the two hyperons, and to vary strongly with W. >From the \cosθK dependence of the structure functions, we conclude that Λ production is dominated by t-channel kaon exchange; this process is much less important in Σ^0 production. We also see clear evidence of resonant s-channel production in the Σ^0 channel. Recent photoproduction results suggest the presence of a ``missing resonance'' (T. Mart and C. Bennhold, Phys. Rev. C61) (2000) 012201. near a W of 1.9 GeV, though this interpretation of the data is not unique. We will discuss what the electroproduction structure functions show in this region and what can be learned from their angular distributions.
