Several models on KBO were developed by us in the last years. We have studied two kind of models (and objects): (1) those cometary-like, that can be safely applied to small objects, based essentially on an extension of our previous comet models; (2) those in which also a relatively large amount of dust can be present. The first kind of models (comet-type ones) find its justification in the fact that comet-like objects can be active also at large distances (>10 AU) from the Sun. As an example, the Centaur Chiron exhibits a comet-like activity probably driven by CO. We have verified that also Kuiper Belt objects, although much more far, can develop a coma made by very volatile elements, such as CO, notwithstanding their very low temperatures. This activity can be triggered either by the small input of solar radiation or by the presence of long life radioactive elements. The second kind of objects can be devolatilized due to diffent processes, including impact differentiation and decay of radioactive elements. In this presentation we will discuss the comparison of comet-like objects with denser and less volatile rich objects.
