The problem of kinetic effects in model stellar systems of differing geometry is considered in general form. Special attention is accorded to kinetic instabilities of the two-stream type. For the case of a spherical system, a brief discussion is given of kinetic effects that would arise from the presence of a massive object (such as a black hole) at the center of the system.
