Using data from the GSC-II catalog, we present a detailed analysis of the stellar population distribution and star space motion in a field centered at (l,b)=(162,86). We derive the scale heights, star formation rate and initial mass function of the populations and we discuss the kinematics of the thick disk and the halo. No significant velocity gradient in the thick disk is found.
