We present high-resolution optical Echelle spectra of six dwarf starburst galaxies, M82, and NGC 1614. The Na D absorption doublet is resolved into multiple components and separated into stellar and interstellar parts. We find that three of the dwarfs show outflows, with a smaller expansion velocity than is seen in more luminous galaxies. By measuring the column density of neutral sodium, we are able to obtain estimates for the mass of cold gas contained in the expanding superbubble. We use the kinematics given by absorption from cold, neutral gas and emission from warm, ionized gas to determine whether the ionization front is trapped inside the shock front.
