New kinematical data from the ring-shaped nebula N70 in the LMC shows an
expansion velocity of 70 km/s. These data, together with the known
spectroscopic information can be explained by a shock model. The shock
origins are investigated. They are not likely to proceed from stellar
winds and should be attributed to an old supernova explosion.
