The authors have performed a statistical analysis of the radial velocities of H I clouds observed in recent 21-cm absorption surveys at Arecibo, Effelsberg and Green Bank. The study is analogous to that performed by Crovisier (1978) on the Nançay 21-cm survey and leads to similar results. The solar motion is found to coincide with the Standard Solar Motion within ≈1 km s-1. The nodal deviation l0 and expansion velocity term K are not significantly different from 0. The mean distance of H I clouds to the galactic plane is <|z|> ≈ 100 pc and the cloud velocity dispersion is 1/2≈ 6.9 km s-1. The latter does not seem to be different for thick (τ21 cm> 0.1) and thin clouds. The velocity dispersion of local molecular clouds, derived from H2CO and 13CO observations, appears to be notably smaller (≈3.5 km s-1).
