Attention is given to observations of 2.6-mm (C-12)O emission taken along a 2-deg strip about the position of Zeta Oph which show a strikingly coherent kinematic pattern. Within 30 arcmin of the star, (C-12)O line is as strong as 5.5 K, which is highly unusual. It is suggested that the CO line brightness is dominated by recombination and excitation effects in gas which is strongly affected by the presence of the star.
