Long-slit, medium-high dispersion optical spectroscopy and direct imaging of the class 2 Seyfert galaxy NGC 4507 are reported. The results are consistent with the morphological classification SBab(rs)I given in the Revised Shapley-Ames Catalog. Evidence has been found that the nuclear forbidden O III line emitting region is structurally and kinematically distinct from the galaxy disk. The distribution of line profiles over this nuclear region is presented and its kinematics discussed.
