Observing and interpreting the 3D kinematics in our Galaxy will certainly yield to a detailed understanding of how galaxies form and evolve. With many new data available or coming, large and accurate photometric, proper motion or radial velocity surveys, important questions can be re-examined and more accurate answers are expected: for instance, the properties of stellar populations, the dynamical properties of the Galaxy and its 3-D potential, infall and cannibalism.
