KEPLER is a planet finder using high accuracy photometry from space. We briefly describe the instrument, the mission profile and the expected scientific performance to detect and characterize the various planet classes. We stress the important step forward in exoplanet search that KEPLER will make possible, after CoRoT, thanks to its capability to detect habitable Earth sized planets. This class of planet is, indeed, not accessible to CoRoT except in some rare occurrences (around M stars). The portray of this future space mission put CoRoT into context.
