We are using the Keck-II DEIMOS spectrometer to conduct a survey of 2000 galaxies at z > 3.5 as well as 1000 AGN in the range 0 < z < 5.4 in the Cosmic Evolution Survey (COSMOS) field. The medium-resolution high S/N spectra yield a high success rate, allowing us to measure line ratios, black-hole masses, and other characteristics of these galaxies. We present our survey strategy, success rate, and early results from the first 15% of our sample. We also compare the photometric and spectroscopic redshifts of our initial galaxy sample and discuss the success of our photometric selection techniques in selecting high-z sources. The fraction of Ly-alpha emitting galaxies at 3.5 < z < 6 as a function of magnitude is quantified.
