In July 1998 and June 1999, we conducted high-resolution UV echelle spectroscopy of Mercury's atmosphere with Keck-1/HIRES, to search for resonant emission of Ca, OH, Al, and Ca+. We present here the instrumental set up, observational conditions and methodology, and data reduction techniques of the program. Upper limits of the column emission for several of the target species are also reported.
