Simple analytic formulas are proposed to fit the theoretical Hartree-Dirac-Slater K-shell photoionization cross sections of atoms and ions with atomic number of 26 or higher. It is shown that the criterion of Kamrukov et al. (1983) permits the description of many cross sections for a variety of atoms and ions. Fitting parameters are shown for the photoionization cross sections of He, Li, and Be atoms and ions with a given number of electrons.
