Eight U-band flares of UV Cet were simultaneously observed in the K-band with no indication of either an infrared enhancement or inverse flare at the 0.015 magnitude level. The observations, however, do not yet rule out infrared variations much longer than the flare durations. The inverse- Compton-effect flare model of Gurzadyan (1968, 1980) would appear untenable, as well as the H- opacity model of Grinin (1976, 1983). Long-term pre-flare dips are seen in the infrared, reminiscent of the disparition brusque model of Giampapa et al. (1982), but further observations, with accurate differential photometry, would be required to confirm this result to remove the effects of variable telluric bands.
