Results are reported for a correlation analysis of the relationship between sunspot numbers (indicators of solar-wind activity) and Jupiter's decametric radio emission. It is found that solar-wind activity appears to have a suppressive effect on the non-Io-related emission. A model for this emission is considered which involves the production of Alfven waves in Jupiter's magnetosphere and the propagation of these waves downwards into the ionosphere, resulting in the emission.
