Jupiter: Observations

Scientific paper

Wind speeds are reported for about two dozen currents. The South Temperate Belt Ovals BC, DE and FA were smaller in 1997 than in 1993-1994. Between 1987 and 1997, the separation between the centers of Ovals BC and DE oscillated by a few degrees: these two ovals merged in early 1998. All belts had visible-light albedos of at least 0.35 in late 1997 and late 1998.
