Refering to Riihimaa's classification of Jovian S-bursts, type f displays both positive and negative drift rates. By simulating the structure of a typical type f burst, we discuss the fitting of the instantaneous drift rate of a given S-burst as a function of the frequency in the frame of trapped electrons hypothesis. We show that it is not possible to fit this drift rate for fixed values of the pitch angle and the energy of the electrons generating the burst.
