Results of global magnetic-variation sounding are interpreted using data on apparent specific resistance and the spectral-impedance phase. It is shown that the use of only amplitude values or only phase values does not give mutually consistent results. A method for the joint interpretation of the apparent specific resistance and the spectral-impedance phase is proposed. An electroconductivity function sigma(R - r) is constructed in the framework of the parametric model using both amplitude and phase values. The interpretation confirms the existence of a conducting layer at depths of 550-750 km.
