Active Galactic Nuclei: Accretion Disks, Active Galactic Nuclei: Jets, Magnetohydrodynamics: Jets
Scientific paper
General properties of jets from active galactic nuclei are briefly summarized. Two basic models for the production of jets are reviewed. The radiation pressure supporting the thick accretion disk model has been studied more extensively, and it seems to have some difficulties. The magnetohydrodynamical accretion disk model now appears to be more promising, although many details remain to be worked out.
