Two major planetary missions under Japanese space agencies to the moon and Mars are described called Lunar A and Planet B, respectively. The missions are intended to recover global geochemical and geophysical data from the two bodies with probes of the lunar surface and of the Martian atmosphere. Collaboration with other international partners is noted, and the projects are expected to yield important planetary data on magnetic fields and seismic actvity.
