JANUS is a NASA SMEX mission that was accepted for phase A and is intended for a 2013 launch date. The primary science goals of JANUS are to use high redshift (66; XRFs/GRBs. XRFM will use a coded aperture design with a hybrid CMOS Si detector, and it will be sensitive to XRFs/GRBs with flux in excess of approximately 250 mCrab. We present instrument design parameters and science goals of this instrument.
