We are conducting a high-frequency, wide-bandwidth (1280--1430 MHz) pulsar survey of the Galactic plane using the 40 x 200 m radio telescope at Nancay, France. The search covers the Galactic plane over the longitude range -15(deg) to 180(deg) at Galactic latitudes |b| < 3(deg) (total sky coverage 1170 square degrees). The survey is optimized for finding young and distant pulsars with milliJansky sensitivity with periods as short as the theoretical break-up speed of a neutron star (~ 0.5 ms). Data are acquired at a sampling rate of 60 mu s using our 96-channel filterbank spectrometer, the Navy-Berkeley Pulsar Processor (NBPP), which was designed and built at the Naval Research Laboratory in collaboration with the University of California, Berkeley, specifically for this survey. Observations were completed in late 1998 and more than half of the data have been analyzed using massively parallel processing engines at the NRL Center for Computational Science. We have detected two new pulsars J0248+60, a 217 ms pulsar, and J2240+58, a 139 ms pulsar. Observations were hampered by extensive radio frequency interference resulting in limits to our survey sensitivity to long period pulsars with flux densities greater than 2--3 mJy. We also discuss the implementation of single pulse searches into the analysis process.
