The Inwood Astronomy Project (IAP) focuses on community-oriented activities oriented towards Astronomy Education. With regular star parties, public lectures, city-government-based activism, the IAP reached a unexpectedly broad and diverse community. We will outline some of the successes and difficulties surrounding pubic outreach in a dense urban environment. Notably, we will describe our process of getting New York City to turn off the lights in a major urban park for The 100 Hours of Astronomy.
