Red-shifted high velocity interstellar gas components with velocities up to ≅100 km s-1 have been detected in the IUE spectra of several stars in the Galactic direction l ≅ 100°, b ≅ -7°. These are compared with complementary high resolution optical observations of the NaD interstellar lines, which allow the distribution of the gas to be mapped more extensively than in earlier surveys. New calculations of the temperature sensitive N(Mg I)/N(Na I) ratio are presented, and used in conjunction with the UV results to partially derive physical conditions within several of the high velocity clouds.
