This paper contains a general description of the late and early access capabilities provided for the International Space Station (ISS) when a Multi-Purpose Logistics Module (MPLM) is manifested. This includes the accommodations provided in both the MPLM and the Space Shuttle middeck area. The paper describes the timeframes available for installation and removal of stowage, size and mass limitations, as well as power and thermal control availability. The purpose is to provide potential Payload Developers (PDs) with an overview of the capability to deliver time-critical payloads to orbit and to retrieve those payloads upon return to earth. .
