The landmark Zhamanshin consists of the remnants of the ringed billow of a basin about 10 km in diameter. The billow is composed of strata of mixed sedimental and metamorphic rocks displaced from the interior of the basin. Scattered among these breccia are congealed glass droplets, termed irgizites, which were identified as tectites. Some characteristic shapes of these 2 to 3 cm-long formations are illustrated, and their characteristic features are discussed.
