A sample of 14708 extragalactic IRAS sources selected from the Point Source Catalog via statistical classification were cross correlated with the Rosat All Sky Survey. An unexpected result that emerged from early Rosat work is the detection of X-ray luminous IRAS LINER's with luminosities up to 1043 erg/s well above those found with the Einstein satellite (a few 1041 erg/s). Tentative explanations for the detection of these X-ray luminous LINER galaxies are given.
