We analyzed Doppler shift measurements which were conducted in Western Cape, South Africa in May - July 2010. The sounding technique is based on observations of the frequency shift between the transmitted radio wave of a fixed frequency 3.59 MHz and the wave received after the reflection from the ionosphere. It enables observations of wave activity at ionospheric heights down to periods of tens of seconds. The sounding is conducted on three measuring paths, thus the horizontal velocity and direction of propagation of the waves can be estimated from the measurements. We studied propagation of waves of periods 1-60 min at days with different with different level of geomagnetic activity and different meteorological activity in the troposphere. Waves propagated mostly equatorward on the studied days with horizontal velocities 70-190 m/s.
