A modified semi-empirical theory of ion lines electron-impact shifts described in this paper is shown to be a good data source for plasma spectroscopy and astrophysical applications. Stark shifts of astrophysically important ion lines presented can be applied for diagnostics of stellar atmospheric motions as well as for stellar mass determinations from gravitational redshifts. The considerations show the important role of Stark shifts in both fields.
