A detailed comparison of three of the main contributors to the SRS program, the Perth 70, W5-50 and WL50 is made with the AGK3R in the zone of common overlap, -5° to +5° declination. The study shows that the system of the International Reference Stars, which is to result from combining AGK3R and SRS, will conform well to the FK4 system in right ascension but may suffer from a discontinuity in declination. The internal systems of the AGK3R and the Perth 70 are also investigated. It is found that the declination system of the Perth 70 shows systematic deviations from the other catalogs which are due to systematic differences between the bright (FK4) and fainter (SRS) star positions in the Perth 70 catalog. In addition, the AGK3R proper motions in declination show a systematic departure from the FK4 system of 0".13 per century in the interval 12h through 23h right ascension.
