The results of deep imaging and spectroscopy of a candidate cosmic string-lensing field are reported. Comparisons with comparably deep reference fields and binary galaxy studies reported in the literature show this field to posses an anomalously high number of similar galaxy pairs with characteristic separations between 1 and 3 arcsec. Four additional pairs, identified on the basis of deep images taken in B and I using both magnitude and color criteria, are presented. Improved spectra for the three brightest original pairs show that kinematic differences between members of pairs are less than about 100 km/s, and the emission-line gas inpair C, now clearly resolved, also appears 'twinlike'.
