We propose to observe at 3 mm the protoplanetary disk 216-0939 in the outskirts of the Orion Nebula. Together with new data at 0.88 mm from the SMA these observations will allow to obtain, for the first time in this region, a reliable estimate of the grain growth form sub-mm/mm interferometry. Since the Orion Nebula is considered as a template birthsite for the formation of most stars, including our Sun, these observations would provide important informations to the models of the first stages of planet formation from a representative region of galactic star formation. With these observations we would also get a more reliable estimate for the disk mass, that, in the case of 216-0939 from the SMA image, appears to be greater than for all the imaged protoplanetary disks in the inner parts of the Orion Nebula. This would give us useful informations about the initial properties of disks in the Orion cluster, in comparison with the less crowded Taurus-Auriga and rho-Ophiucus star forming regions.
