The paper determines in which viewing directions the photometric data expected from an out-of-ecliptic zodiacal light experiment will allow the inversion of the brightness integral. The minimum assumption is made that the zodiacal cloud has rotational symmetry. If this assumption is correct, many new results on the local optical properties of the interplanetary grains can be expected.
