The method proposed is based on a direct determination with Stratton-Chu integrals of the first moments in the multipole expansion. It is noted that the method, which is free of the limitations described by Rokitianskii (1975), is suitable for models in which the surface of the earth is closed. The model outlined here allows for the screening of a sedimentary mantle and the effect of an encompassing medium.
