A method is proposed for deriving the accretion-disk structure in a binary system from an analysis of eclipse light curves. The method is applied to the HZ Her (Hercules X-1) system in order to determine the brightness- and color-temperature distribution in the accretion disk associated with the neutron star. It is found that the luminosity, mean temperature, and dimensions of the accretion disk correlate with the phase of the 35-day cycle of X-ray variation. The empirical properties obtained for the accretion disk are shown to be in agreement with the conclusions of the theory of disk accretion onto relativistic objects.
