Proper motions are derived for 146 stars in the central region of the Pleiades Cluster, among which are 84 cluster members covering a range of 10 magnitudes. The accuracy reached is such that internal motions of individual stars can be seen. All plates were taken with the Leiden photographic 33-cm refractor. A uniform accuracy of proper motions over the different magnitudes was established. Comparison with proper motions derived by Hertzsprung (1947), for the central area covered by one Leiden plate, shows good agreement within the error bars, but comparison with proper motions derived by Jones (1970), who used several smaller plates in overlap, shows significant differences. The same applies for a comparison of the present positions with those of Eichhorn (1970), who used overlapping plates.
