H I clouds have been found up to 1.5 and 3.5 degrees from the galaxies NGC 55 and NGC 300, respectively, with velocities similar to the systemic velocities of the two galaxies. They are probably intergalactic gas clouds in the Sculptor Group with linear projected distances of up to 80 kpc from NGC 55 and 180 kpc from NGC 300. A long tail of H I was also found extending 2 degrees to the SE of NGC 300 along its major axis. This tail and similar H I tails on M83 and IC 10 lie approximately in the plane of the Local Supergalaxy; the Magellanic Stream also lies near the supergalactic plane.
