The authors describe a fully interactive approach to the reduction and analysis of the echelle spectrograms, totally independent of the spectrograph characteristics and of the image sampling direction. The method developed provides a modular procedure which uses an interactive image display and takes into account the recorded image defects, the tilt of the spectral lines and the non-uniform widening of the orders.
